Tusk Shelf

Regular price $7,800

Open/made-to-order

The Tusk Shelf gets its name from its use of tusk joinery to hold its unique bracket system together. It provides an intentional space to showcase art and small/medium sized wares. All joints are dry fit, so they can be disassembled when needed.

Its form is inspired by timber frame architecture, particularly that of temples constructed throughout Asia. Each component of the shelf is cut, shaped, and ensured to fit, by hand. Each of the mortises' final dimensions are fine-tuned with chisels and small hand tools. The smallest components that lock each of the joint formations together, the tusks, are fit through a lengthy process of hand sanding and checking until they are seated just right.

Curator's Note

"The long, shallow proportions of this shelf make it perfect for displaying a beloved collection. For me it belongs in a dining space, lined with beautiful chawan. It has a way of making whatever you put on it look considered."
