This sculpture explores the work and repetition that an artist goes through to build a foundation in a craft practice. Built using a collection baluster style legs that I've hand turned and found to be imperfect in a variety of ways; these turnings support the granite slab that was quarried in Woodbury, VT. Skills gained through trial and error, repetition, and learning by doing create a strong, resilient foundation - the mistakes we make along the way deserve recognition and even celebration.
