Solène Kerlo

Hostie Funéraire

Regular price $3,200

Limited edition — edition size 8, edition number 3

Hostie Funéraire belongs to Solène Kerlo's ongoing research into votive forms, prehistoric signs, and the symbolic power of objects placed between the body, the sacred, and the earth. Cast in recycled brass, the work reworks the form of a ritual host, shifting it from an object of offering and communion into a funerary relic: an offering shaped around absence, memory, and burial. Held upright on its base, the circular form evokes an archaic sun, a burial marker, an altar object, or a fragment exhumed from a lost ceremony. Its irregular surface carries the memory of the hand, the mold, and the fire, preserving the tension between devotion, erosion, and apparition. The piece is conceived as a contemporary ritual object, at once mineral, symbolic, and silent.

Curator's Note

"Part sculpture, part relic. The form reads as something ceremonial — a medallion or an offering — but entirely contemporary."
