A simple side table with a slight offset for a disjointed yet balanced visual composition. The offset design creates a sense of movement and intrigue, inviting the eye to explore its subtle complexities. I was inspired by the stacked rock formations called cairns that hikers leave on trails. Tenuously balanced and temporary in nature.

The lime plastered hempcrete maintains enough weight for the side table to stable without being too heavy to move. It is almost deceptively light given its stone like appearance.

Curator's Note

"Hempcrete is one of the most sustainable and eco-friendly building materials available today, but in many applications feels crude and heavy. Paul's work challenges this by layering lime plaster over it, giving his work a uniquely smooth, milky finish. The longer I've sat with this side table the more I've come to appreciate its geometry and porportions. It would work beautifully as a drink table or corner perch."

Wipe with a dry cloth. Avoid moisture and standing water — lime plaster is mineral-based and not water-resistant. Do not use chemical cleaners. Natural variation in texture and color is inherent to the material.
