Lucy MacQueen Art

Lucy MacQueen is a landscape artist based in Austin, Texas, working in acrylic and gold leaf. She trained as an artist in London and spent her twenties traveling the world, absorbing landscapes that still surface in her work years later, sometimes in ways she does not fully recognize until a piece is finished. Her work sits at the intersection of two ancient traditions and one very modern instinct: gold leaf, used for centuries to symbolize wealth, wisdom, and spirituality, is applied one delicate sheet at a time in a process that is fragile, exacting, and almost meditative - then met with loose, thick acrylic laid on with a huge spatula, bold and physical and unplanned. That tension between control and abandon is at the heart of every piece. Her landscapes are deliberately ambiguous, offering just enough structure that a viewer might recognize something, or feel a spark of memory, and letting the conversation begin there. She has exhibited internationally, including in London, Sydney, New York, Santa Fe, and Dallas.
